Serving as a Public House for over 200 years The Barley Mow, nestled in the heart of the South Downs, has recently been lovingly modernised and invested in by a team of creative hospitality locals. Along with extended, expanded and elevated facilities inside and out, the whole pub has been beautifully redecorated and rejuvenated to provide a multitude of unique and exciting facilities for families and adults alike.
With a fresh, ever changing menu, and an evolving and enchanting range of drinks The Barley Mow offers a high quality dining and drinking experience alongside unrivalled hospitality.

Welcome to The Barley Mow
Inside.
The goal with the interior design is to re-imagine the classic country pub; a perfect mix of quintessential yet current. Incorporating a colour palate inspired by the natural surroundings and tones of the Firle countryside to produce a sustainable, environmentally friendly interior; repurposing the existing Barley Mow furniture and adding select pieces from collections by the likes of Phillippe Stark and Rockett St George, alongside re-salvaged furnishings, objet d'art and full use of vintage and pre-loved fabrics to create a classic country pub but with a contemporary twist.
To continue the homage to the local environment, The Little Greene Paint Company’s ‘Re:Mix” paint, (a collection of re-formulated colours using left-over and unwanted paints and inspired by English Heritage), has been extensively used throughout the property.
Outside.
Incorporating two distinct sections, the outside of The Barley Mow provides a truly unique space. With expansive views over the South Downs National Park, the large family garden incorporates scores of pastel coloured tables generously spaced out over a grassy meadow with a large wooden kids play park at its centre. Snuggled closer to the pub is a separate garden with clean lines and designer touches it provides an adult sanctuary which is covered and heated in winter.
The gardens are serviced by two full outdoor bars and food offering.
Multiple other features, from an outdoor kitchen, hog roast and pizza oven, to garden DJ booth and themed ice cream stand help to further make The Barley Mow the place you want to be..
